Vans x Wildfox

Vans is already one of my favourite shoe brands, and Wildfox is just awesome...but expensive. And now Kimberly Gordon of Wildfox has teamed up with Vans to make a pair of slips! yay! I want these, but I am a little afraid of what this limited edition shoe might cost.

Hi Again

I know this a poor returning post, but honestly I love this website haha--> The Superficial. It's where I go when I should be studying, but need some gossip and need to read about something a little more interesting than how to engage your students, or the place of articulation when you speak...blarg!  Umm what else do I have here for you, oh how about a post about some amazing smelling body balm. Yep it is called India and it calms my soul.

Not-so-Monday of music.

Oops. I've been a little MIA on the blog lately. Work has taken over my blogging life! I will make up for it though, I promise.

Here is a little gem of a song that G showed me recently. That man, I tell ya :) Hope y'all enjoy!

family.

Even though I'm 1,678 miles away from my family, all I need to do is pick up my phone and facetime them. Best. Invention. Ever. Especially when your younger sister is as crazy as mine. Never a dull moment.

the never ending paperwork story

This is what my life consists of lately.. paperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork. 'tis never ending.
But it's all worth it to have the summers, Christmas, spring breaks and Thanksgivings off. Sigh.

Thought For The Day

If only I would've realized this in high school.
But 'tis true.
:)
TGIF! It's officially spring break time for me after today! Well, sort of. I'm currently in San Antonio for a state-wide speech-language pathology conference. Im a nerd and I love it!

Being Grateful

Lately, I have been in these moods where I am sick of school, sick of winter, bored with my life, and feel like I am cooped up all the time in my house, at work, or at school. My grandma and I e-mail back and forth once and a while, and last night I was e-mailing her about how bored of school I am and how it is hard to make myself go there everyday. She responded saying she is so excited that I am finally doing what I've always wanted to do, and she is so happy I responded that night since she has been so depressed lately. She then went on to tell me how she is trying to hold off from stage 5 kidney disease, and how she is optimistic that she can remain in stage 4. She told me how weak this kidney failure has been making her and how it is hard to even get up in the mornings. I wanted to dedicate this post to my g-ma and thank her for "knocking some sense" into me. Thank you grandma for making me realize the grateful life that I have. I am healthy, already have a degree and I now have the opportunity of getting my second degree, the one I have always wanted. I live in a great place, with great people around me, people who care about me, and I get to participate in the sports I want to play. I know there are people who would love the opportunity to go to university, but are unable to. From now on I will be grateful for all these things I took for granted. And grandma, thanks for being so strong and so optimistic. You are truly a role model!

5 minute table runner

Oh hey there! Wanna see a table runner I made in 5 minutes? I figured you would! All you need is the following:
-fabric of choice
-sewing machine
-pins

The main aspect of this table runner is measurement. I measured the width I wanted and measured approximately 12 inches of over hang for each side. Then I simply hemed the edges and viola, a masterpiece.....of sorts.
It turned out well for 5 minutes of work, if I do say so myself.

G just said "we should've moved the water cooler", but you don't mind, do you?

kite festival

This morning, G and I went for a hike and stopped by Zilker Park for the annual kite festival. It was amazing to see literally thousands of kites in the air at once. Sadly, the pictures do not do it justice. It was such a fun event with awesome food, music and beautiful weather! Perfect Sunday if you ask me :)

march on into March

Wow. Is it really March already? There are many things I am looking forward to this month. Namely, seeing Kayli a great friend I've known since high school, and sxsw!!!!!!!  If you are interested, here is a list of the bands playing at the festival. There's only a couple playing (re-read that with a overly sarcastic tone, please & thank you!).

Hope y'all have a great 1st day of March!

Beware the ides of march.

waterfall

On the weekend, G and I decided to stop by a wildlife nature preserve that is 10 minutes from our place. Needless to say we were pleasantly surprised at the natural beauty this city has to offer! About a mile or so into our hike we heard rushing water and came across a waterfall! I know I have said this before here but there is something about waterfalls that get me every time. and sunsets. sunsets and waterfalls.

oops my Canadian is showing

G and I went to a hockey game. Yup, hockey game in Texas! Austin is home to the Texas Stars. The Dallas Stars farm team. It was packed... with all canadians. Literally the entire team roster, except for 4 players, was comprised of good ole' Canadian boys. I looked around the rink to find Montreal Canadiens jerseys, team canada jerseys and team canada olympic jerseys! Canadians are taking over the world! (insert evil laugh here)

Unreal

I just spent an hour going through all of this girls cover songs, so obviously this had to be shared. I want to try and get one of the Saskatoon venues to bring her here. Check it out.

Here is her personal website: http://julianaricherdaily.com

Oh Hey..

Although Saskatoon might not be AS nice as Austin...I did manage to capture some pretty swank photos. I needed some fresh air and strolled around with my camera....and secretly brought the bf along so I could snap some pics of him (he hates pictures). I pretended to get the scenery, but secretly I wanted both. oops.

stop & smell the roses

Lately G and I have been driving 30 minutes to down town A-town in the evenings to run the trails around town lake. It's well worth the $6 in gas (G did the calculations) each time to make it down there.  We usually spend 2 hours there, running and stopping to literally smell the roses and enjoy all the beautiful scenery Austin has to offer.

valentine's day

Valentines day is silly. I've always thought this. That why G and I never spend lots of money on each other. We always write each other a nice card, and get 1 or 2 little things. G picked me up at lunch, gave me a hand written (and drawn) card, and some white chocolate covered strawberries. I never knew what I was missing with those puppies and let me tell you... to. die. for.  Then we had an outdoor torchy's tacos picnic.

After our little picnic, I went back to work for the afternoon and G went off to school. When he got home, he had this card and nerf gun waiting for him....

and then we had a nerf gun fight..... I won.

I just had to...

A while ago I read the book Something Borrowed, which I thought I wouldn't like, but had a pretty lengthy flight so I took it with me anyways. To my surprise I loved the book and finished it in 4 days AND then they made a movie about it! Tonight I watched it, thinking it was going to ruin the book for me, but once again I was shocked....it was definitely a chick flick, but I love Kate Hudson and the movie was pretty funny..and a little cheesy in some spots. But WATCH IT. Here's a song from the movie...LOVE

sunset

I'm not exactly sure what it is about sunsets, but they get me every time. I can't help but whip out my phone to take a billion zillion pictures (see below; yes, they were all from the same night). They are just so peaceful and serene, I want to remember that feeling forever. It reminds me of being little and going on Hawaiian vacations with my family. We would make a point to watch every sunset at the beach. We would sit there in awe and enjoy each other's company. So thank you sunsets, for giving me a reason to stop with my busy life and enjoy nature's beauty.

trampoline park

We had family from Canada come and visit us a last month. Naturally,  we took them to a trampoline park. Not only was it the most fun I've had in a while, it was the best work out EVER. The "I'm so sore I'm never going to jump ever again in my life" kind of work out.

..Then we went for ice cream! Such a fun day :)
G and Ty playing trampoline basketball.

 mid-jump.
 bffs
shhh secret entrance.
If you're ever in Austin, you must check out amy's ice creams
It's the first ice cream I've been able to eat, since my body decided it was lactose intolerant.
So yummy!
